What foreign team did you support as a kid?
Red Star Belgrade for me.

Cracking name and a decent red, stripey kit.

You lot?

Re: What foreign team did you support as a kid?
I went to watch Lille a couple of times when I studied out there for a year. That's when they were still in the out-of-town athletics stadium in Villeneuve D'Ascq. Both games were pretty rubbish actually but I remember they lost 0-2 to Monaco and Yaya Touré and a lad called Gakpé tore Lille a new arsehole that night.

I think the other match was v Le Mans and was an awful game that seemed to be going nowhere so I went to get a bag of chips and Bodmer went and fucking scored what turned out to be the winner for Lille...

Re: What foreign team did you support as a kid?
None. I never gave a shit about European football and still don't.

I support West Ham. Except the Metz inter toto season I haven't ever supported any team in Europe.

I have though always hated Real Madrid... so I have "un supported" Real Madrid for a long time.

I also remember the Barcelona team that tore Man Utd a new asshole at the Nou Camp in 94-95! They were immense, just looked their Squad up and some top players in there!

Carles Busquets
Albert Ferrer
Miquel Angel Nadal (The Beast of Barcelona)
Sergi
Ronald Koeman
Jose Bakero
Pep Guardiola
Georghe Hagi
Guillermo Amor
Hristo Stoichkov
Romario

Manager: Johan Cruyff

Hagi, Romario and Stoichkov in the same forward line!

Used to like Fiorentina as they had Nintendo on the front as their sponsor. Used to watch it every Sunday on the Goalazzo Sunday on Channel 4 back in the day - 15 years ago at least

Real Madrid. Watched them fucking murder Eintracht Frankfurt in the European Cup Final 1963 i believe. First game i ever watched from start to finish. You had to be in awe of that team.

I loved David platt after that volley against Belgium. So basically whoever he played fir (ie Bari juve and then Sampdoria). But none of the English teams he played for

He then royally pissed on my parade when I got tickets to palace forest when he was player manager. He came on as a second half sub and changed the game - different class. My mate got me into the players lounge afterwards and he was the only fucker who didn't come in. Miserable fat faced git

Enjoyed watching the AC Milan teams late 80's early 90's. Wasn't a kid then though.

As a kid I loved watching the Dutch side of the 1970's era. Cruyff (spelling) and co. Great team to watch. Still amazed that they didn't win a World Cup!

Edmonton Brickmen

The roster of which included at various time, future West Ham players (however briefly) Craig Forrest and Justin Fashanu.

And when I started having friends of Italian decent - Juve.

Re: What foreign team did you support as a kid?
I've followed a whole array of teams because of players i liked, more than the team itself.

The real Ronaldo for example has had me keep an eye out for Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, A C Milan and Corinthians (didn't know much about him for PSV).

Also always had a soft spot for Vasco De Gama and Boca Juniors.

West Ham - England
Rangers - Scotland (only challengers to the Fenian scum)
Any European team that Chelsea, the 4by`s or the bin dippers are up against

haha, I dont remember all the fuss after that game, may have to watch it back.

Then Roma lost on penalties which everyone seemed "pleased" about due to them being a horrible bunch of bastards :-)

Yes and yes. He was actually mentioned in the article, I hadn't read that when I posted the message below though. I believe they referred to him as Wattie SMITH.

Yeah they did. that side was immense at the time and like you say generally homegrown players.

What I liked about Dundee United was that they were made up mainly of homegrown players. They had a great academy until they started buying cheap Scandinavians in the 90s.
